INTEGRAL FLOW ALARM

Effective immediately, an integral flow alarm is now available as an accessory with the Wallace & Tiernan straight through indicator housing. This low cost alarm is housed within the meter indicator and allows remote monitoring of either high or low set points. Both NEMA 4 and FM approved intrinsically safe for hazardous area configurations are available.

A barrier is supplied with all integral flow alarms with 24V, 120V and 240V versions offered. The supply voltage is to be specified in the new meter sales codes.

INTEGRAL FLOW ALARM FOR STRAIGHT THROUGH METERS

This low-cost alarm is available as an accessory for use with the Armored Flow, Metal Tube, PVC, and TFE Wallace & Tiernan Products flowmeters. The switch mounts inside the meter's indicator and enables remote monitoring of either high or low set points. The switch is housed in the indicator, which is in a NEMA 4 enclosure with a plastic window; a glass window is available as an option. There is also an FM approved, intrinsically safe arrangement with a power supply and an integral (to the power supply) relay available for Class I, II & III, Division 1 & 2 hazardous areas. A 4-20 mA electronic transmitter is also available in combination with this alarm.

Alarm Operation

The user can easily set the switching point by removing the indicator cover and moving the alarm pointer tip, located in the slot, to the desired flow alarm set point. Any flow value along the slot can be used as the desired set position. The placement of the pointer tip provides a local and visual indication of the alarm point. The disc mounted on the indicator needle actuates the limit switch within the housing. This compact, inexpensive switch gives a reliable high- or low-flow signal even under sudden flow surges. The alarm can be set to open or close on increasing or decreasing process flow.
